Day 35: Your Outreach Style

Read 1 Corinthians 12:27-30

A duck, a rabbit, a squirrel, and an eagle went to school. The curriculum was swimming, running, climbing, and flying. Not surprisingly, the duck swam the best, until running ruined his webbed feet. The rabbit was able to run the fastest, until she drowned. The squirrel climbed high, but required a body cast when attempting to fly back to the ground. The eagle just flew away after watching the others. God uses different people to reach different people. We’re not all teachers, or prophets, or rabbits, or ducks. We are all different.

Let's discover your outreach style!
Read the 15 statements below. Identify the 5‐7 statements that best describe you.

  1. When I see someone in need, I start to think about ways I could help. It’s almost automatic.
  2. I’ve asked a friend or family member to come to church with me in the past.
  3. To have a friend, be a friend. That’s what I say and how I live.
  4. I love to tell the story of Jesus and His love—especially the ways He’s shown that love in my life.
  5. Those who know me, know I like to think. Some people think I think too much!
  6. The best way to help others know that Jesus cares for them is to care for them myself and show it in my actions. I deeply believe that actions speak louder than words.
  7. When I hear about an event like Trivia Night or a Post-Game Party, I start thinking about who to invite.
  8. I like to hang out with people—just relax and enjoy being together. I hope that others see Jesus in me and want to know Him, in part, because of it.
  9. I know what Jesus means in my life. Let me tell you about it!
  10. Some people think faith is just a thing of the heart; but you don’t have to check your brains at the door. I love to talk about why Christianity makes good sense.
  11. If my neighbor’s child was in the hospital, I’d cook supper for the family or offer to cut their grass so they could care for the child. It would be fun for me!
  12. One of the best things about New Beginnings is all the fun events; I like being able to invite my friends and family, and I pray they will want to come back to hear more about Jesus.
  13. I really like to spend time with people—no agenda necessary.
  14. Knowing Jesus gives my life meaning. I just can’t help talking about it.
  15. I like it when people ask me to explain what I believe and why.
