Krista Junge

Children’s Ministry Director

My husband, Dan, and I have been at New Beginnings for 7ish years. We love the worship, learn from the sermons, and appreciate the casual atmosphere. I've been on the Sunday School team about 5 years and love the kids and other staff members.

I recently retired from BJC Healthcare after a 30+ year career in learning and leadership development, both with non-profit (including Lutheran Hour Ministries) and for-profit companies. During that time I developed and facilitated training and leadership team programs, and developed team members to do the same. It's been an incredibly fun career ride for which I am very grateful.

I wasn't sure what retirement would hold for me, but I knew I wanted to do something that allowed me the opportunity to share Christ more overtly than I could in my previous positions.  And then Lisa called 😉.  It's tough to say no to Lisa at any time, but when the opportunity is to further develop the NBLC children's program, the answer is a YES!  The timing was a God thing for sure! I am excited to be working with the staff, kids, and parents to strengthen and build the program to be even better than it already is.

What's your favorite thing about summertime celebrations?

Bi-annual family reunions. The last one had descendants from each of the original 8 children my great-grandfather (who came to America from Germany) had with his three wives (consecutively, not at the same time, of course!). We had 150 people at that reunion! Interestingly, one of the wives (I don't remember which) agreed to marry my great-grandfather only if he agreed to build a Lutheran church in Wausau, Wisconsin where they lived. The church is still standing.

What are your favorite colors?

Purple, yellow, and green.

What's a trend you'd like to see make a comeback?

80's hair styles - they were the BEST!
