Day 48: Universal and Local Church Membership

Take a day to pause and reflect on what you've learned over the last five days.

We became members of Christ’s Church—of every era and around the world—through baptism. Though it may seem less impressive, we also became members of a local church by prayerfully committing after a seminar or class. Until God calls you elsewhere, the church you attend is where you are commanded to continue meeting with other Christ followers, growing in God’s Word, and spending your life on His mission.

For example, Hebrews 10:24‐25: “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Discuss the following with a group. (As a reminder, if you're unable to meet with friends or family to discuss these questions, we invite you to journal through these things by yourself.)

  1. Which day’s reading and/or passage of Scripture was the most significant for you this week? Why?
  2. What have you learned about people (or yourself) in the past day’s readings and prayer times?
  3. What have you learned about God in the past day’s readings and prayer times?
  4. What changes in your life have you felt the Holy Spirit nudging you to make this week?
