COMMUNION EXAMINATION QUESTIONS

Baptized Christians who are able to say “yes” to the following five questions are welcome to receive communion at New Beginnings Lutheran Church.

Can you admit you are a sinner?

“This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”
Matthew 26:28

Are you sorry for your sins?

“Now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us.”
2 Corinthians 7:9

Do you believe Jesus died and rose again for your sins?

“For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.”
1 Corinthians 11:26

Do you intend, with God’s help, to change your sinful life?

“Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.”
2 Corinthians 7:10

Do you believe Jesus’ body and blood are received with the bread and wine in the Lord’s Supper?

“Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?”
