All churches begin as small groups of people sharing life with one another. New Beginnings is no different. Just a handful of people began meeting in a home to get into the Bible, pray for each other, and look for opportunities to share good news with family and friends… oh, and enjoy life to the full!
Pastor Joe Sullivan and his family moved to Eureka Missouri in 1999 and were set loose to begin a new church from scratch in early 2000. The success of each day was measured by whether we each talked to at least one person about Jesus. Eventually, more and more of us met together and sought to repeat the practice. We continued meeting together in each other's homes, and each week these scattered groups would gather to receive Word and Sacrament. By the end of 2000, over 100 people had interacted with Jesus through the gospels at least 1-8 times; our weekly worship reached around 60 people.
A quarter century later, so many things have changed, and many people have come and gone, but what has never changed is our priority to meet in homes around the Bible and prayer, and to gather weekly for worship as one big faith family. And God adds to our number daily those who are being saved.
